Through Thick or Thin?

So the proposal has been announced on Facebook and congratulatory messages as well as questions around the actual wedding date flooded my timeline and inbox. What surprised me though are the hard pressed advises on how soon I should start my diet. I have notes like, "Kelan nyo plano ikasal, oh sya mag-diet ka na ulit!" or "dapat 1 year pa lang bago ang kasal magsimula ka na ulit magpapayat para maganda sa picture!"

If you don't know me, I am a big-boned lady who is infamous for successfully losing 10 kilos 2 years ago. After meeting Mark, my fiance, I have slowly gained the weight back and even added more. I have tons of 'selfies' on FB  during the slim days and although I still have selfies on my phone now that I have gained weight, I stopped uploading to FB anymore because who wants to be called FAT all the time?

Anyway, just to be clear, I have decided to slim down NOT to please anyone but myself. Every girl has insecurities and I won't come clean. I am not perfect but I want my wedding to be. Having double chin and muffin top is a no-no! So as soon as I booked the church, I have decided to renew my gym commitment and subscribe to a daily healthy meal delivery.

I used to go to gym 4-6 times a week. I attended Cardio programs and Toning classes like Zumba, Step, Body Combat, Body Pump, ABT, etc. I used to train at least 6 hours on weekends. I would even stay late until 12 midnight on Fridays if I don't have so much things to do at home. I paired it with low carb - high protein diet. Oatmeal has been a staple breakfast and snacks vary from frozen grapes or peanut butter dipped celery stalks. Lunch was either chicken breast or salmon and dinner was banana or any fruit have in the fridge. I plan to stick to the same routine to successfully go back to my slimmer self. The challenge is avoiding the urge to go home and cuddle with your fiance or turning down date nights and saying no to movie or coffee dates. Good thing Mark is supportive so he tries to be less of a distraction to my goal.

I will try to post updates as we get nearer to the big day! For now, here is a before pic for comparison.

8 Reasons Why I Blog my Wedding Preps

Quick intro: (because i don't fancy lengthy) I, Diane is a first time blogger, a frustrated writer and most importantly a secluded bride-to-be who has momentary OCD Complex and random brain farts. Mark, the groom-to-be is a man of (very) few words with minimal interest and limited patience on listening to my rants about our wedding. We got engaged on our anniversary at 8 September 2014 (mental note: I will write a separate proposal entry. ktnxbye) and we are set to marry on 8 May 2016.

I thought of blogging our wedding preps because:

  1. I have a strong feeling that I will have dementia in the future and I will forget my wedding, the preps and maybe even my husband so this blog should come in handy. But seriously, I have a feeling that I will miss the preps few months after the wedding so this can nurse my relapse, I hope.
  2. I reside in SG at the moment while my besties, sissies and mom stay in PH. There is Skype and Viber of course but having to repeatedly tell the story to update them is to much of a work.
  3. I just get fed up with the need to sometimes having to delay my excitement until we (my besties, sissies, mom and I) find a convenient time when we can stay online. And I don't think they really enjoy every bit of detail that I tell them so blogging gives them the option to select which topics they want to hear (or read) stories of.
  4. It's my escape from the stress at work, the pressure on losing weight, or even from total weekend boredom. Writing is therapeutic and so is reading.
  5. I don't want Mark to be bombarded by my potential daily rants or stories because I assume that the final two months before the wedding will be hectic and it would be too much for him. So I will just write the details and let him take care of budgeting (bless him.)
  6. I find wedding blogs very helpful especially the reviews on suppliers, the pictures, the what-to-expect, etc. I want to help soon-to-be-brides too.
  7. I always wanted to have a journal or diary ever since I learned how to write but I lived in a very small space where privacy is nonexistent. But then I realized why do I need to keep my thoughts private? But the realization came only now.
  8. I want to be a blogger so this can be a good start.

Now that I have perhaps established that blogging is a sensible thing to do, let the first blog entry be published!
